One shared foundation for running farms and building the technology they use.
Farm teams use FarmCore to keep work, machinery, records and people connected. Developers build on the same foundation, so each new application does not arrive with another login, another database and another version of the farm.
Most farms already use technology. The problem is that the information required to run the operation is often spread across notebooks, spreadsheets, text messages, email, machinery portals, accounting platforms and specialist farm management software.
Each system may be useful on its own. Together, they can create another problem.
A task may sit in a message. The machinery history may be in a spreadsheet. A contractor document may be buried in an inbox. A paddock record may exist in one application, while the people doing the work rely on a different version of the information.
The result is not simply inconvenience. It creates more places to check, more information to enter twice and more uncertainty about what has been completed, which record is current and who is responsible for the next step.
Agricultural technology developers encounter the same structural problem from the other side. Before building a livestock, biosecurity, irrigation, maintenance or compliance application, they often need to recreate the basic systems around it: users, permissions, maps, assets, records, documents and workflows.
This means considerable development effort is spent rebuilding the farm before the application can begin solving the agricultural problem it was created to address.
FarmCore is being developed as a digital operating system for agriculture. It provides a shared foundation for farm task management, agricultural asset management, records, people, maps, documents and future applications.
Farm teams can use FarmCore to coordinate daily work and retain a clearer operational history. Developers can build specialist agricultural applications on an established platform rather than creating another isolated system.
The objective is not to replace every useful piece of farm software. It is to give those tools a common operating environment, so each new application does not require another login, another database and another version of the farm.
FarmCore is being built around a simple idea: every agricultural application should not need to recreate the farm before it can begin solving a useful problem.
Properties, paddocks, people, machinery, infrastructure, tasks, records and documents form the operating structure of a farm.
FarmCore brings those elements into a single foundation, so information does not need to be recreated differently for every application.
The value is not merely having everything in one place. It is having one dependable version of the farm.
Farm records are often treated as a separate administrative exercise. In practice, the most reliable records are created while the work is being done.
FarmCore connects tasks, photographs, documents, maintenance histories, and evidence of completion to the relevant person, place, or asset.
This means less time reconstructing what happened later and less reliance on memory, messages or scattered files.
Livestock, irrigation, biosecurity, safety, and compliance applications may address different problems, but they often rely on the same basic information.
FarmCore allows farms to add specialist applications without creating another set of users, maps, assets and records each time.
New technology should extend the operating environment, not create another isolated version of it.
Agricultural technology developers often spend substantial effort building accounts, permissions, maps, records, notifications and other basic infrastructure before addressing the problem their product was intended to solve.
FarmCore provides that underlying platform.
Developers can focus on the core agricultural functionality that makes their application valuable, rather than rebuilding the foundations around it.
After buying and operating a farm, we encountered a problem that will be familiar to many agricultural businesses.
Useful information was scattered across notebooks, spreadsheets, text messages, email, machinery portals and different pieces of software. Each tool solved part of the problem, but none provided a dependable operating structure for the farm as a whole.
Adding more technology did not necessarily make the operation simpler. In many cases, it created another login, another set of records and another place to check.
That experience led to FarmCore.
We began developing a common digital foundation for the work, people, machinery, infrastructure, records and documents involved in running a farm. The aim was not to create another isolated farm application. It was to build the operating layer that existing and future agricultural applications could work through.
FarmCore is now being developed by Havoc Ventures using practical agricultural workflows and real operating conditions. The development program also draws on supervised student-development teams involving Queensland University of Technology, Griffith University and the University of Sydney.
The platform remains under active development. Its direction continues to be shaped by a straightforward test: does this reduce the work required to operate the farm, or does it merely create more software to manage?
FarmCore is an Australian agricultural technology platform being developed as a digital operating system for agriculture.
It provides a common operating foundation for the people, work, assets, records, documents, maps and applications involved in running a farm.
Most farm management software is built around a particular commodity, task, device or compliance requirement. FarmCore takes a broader approach. It is intended to provide the shared structure beneath these individual functions, allowing farms to manage core operations through one system and add specialist agricultural applications as required.
For farmers and farm managers, FarmCore is being developed as a practical platform for coordinating work, maintaining records, managing machinery and infrastructure, and keeping operational information connected to the person, place or asset it relates to.
For agricultural technology developers, FarmCore provides the underlying platform needed to build and deploy specialist farm applications without recreating the same basic systems for every product.
.
FarmCore is Australian-first and is being shaped around the operating conditions of Australian agriculture, including large properties, mixed enterprises, contractors, mobile field work, machinery, variable connectivity and limited time for administration.
The initial FarmCore platform focuses on farm task management and agricultural asset management. Planned capabilities include records, documents, maps, permissions, integrations and a modular application marketplace.
FarmCore is being developed by Havoc Ventures through practical farm use and university-linked development programs involving Queensland University of Technology, Griffith University and the University of Sydney.
The long-term objective is straightforward: create the infrastructure that allows useful agricultural technology to work together, rather than forcing every new application to build another separate version of the farm.
